Our story
Reid’s Joinery is a family-owned business that has been part of the Otago community since 1956.
Founded by Doug and Kath Reid, the company began by manufacturing timber windows and doors, with a strong focus on quality workmanship and reliable service. Those early principles have remained at the core of the business and continue to guide the way we work today.
In the late 1960s, Reid’s Joinery was among the first in the region to introduce aluminium joinery. As the industry has evolved, we’ve continued to adapt alongside it, working with modern systems and materials suited to New Zealand conditions, while maintaining the standards the business was built on.
In 1974, a fire destroyed the factory. The business was rebuilt and has remained part of the local community ever since, continuing to support local projects, trades, and customers across the region.
Over the years, many of our customers have returned to us for multiple projects, and in some cases, across generations. That level of trust is something we don’t take for granted. It’s also reflected in our team, where experience and continuity play an important role in how we operate day to day.
In 2002, Reid’s Joinery made the decision to focus solely on aluminium joinery. This allowed us to take a more specialised and consistent approach to our work, refining our processes and continuing to deliver reliable results.
Today, we continue to take pride in producing quality aluminium joinery and providing straightforward, dependable service. We understand that every project is different, and we aim to make the process as clear and manageable as possible from start to finish.
If you’re planning a project, we’re always happy to have a conversation and see how we can help.
